Claire Malka successfully represented a senior and long serving manager with a nationally known firm.
The company in question sought to replace the manager with a younger individual and offered our client a Settlement Agreement. Our client had not, until that point, sought any legal advice. He came to us initially for independent advice concerning the Settlement Agreement but, after some questioning, we realised that he had been unlawfully and constructively dismissed and that there was a strong age discrimination aspect that had somehow been overlooked.
Claire advised that she believed she could negotiate a substantially higher settlement for him because of these very important legal issues and, after some ‘eyeball to eyeball’ negotiation with the other side’s lawyers, she managed to extract a substantial increase of an additional £15,000. One very delighted client.
